Panormos
The second
largest port of Tinos as well as the island's sole natural
harbor is situated 3 kms north of Pyrgos and 25.5 kms
northwest of Chora (Tinos Town). In the past, the bay of
Panormos was used to conduct the entirety of the transit
trade of the Tinos region of Exo Meria (the outer areas of
Tinos). Panormos constitutes an alternative proposition for
tranquility and recreation during the summer months but is
also a place of exceptional beauty throughout the year. Its
totally sheltered natural harbor, whose entrance is
protected by the imposing rocky islet Planitis ("planet"),
is both a refuge and a point of departure for fishing boats,
caiques and sailing yachts.
